Time to 'Show-and-Tell' Entrepreneurs!

Navigating the seas of entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster - fun, exhilarating, scary, challenging, and sometimes heart-wrenching! The phrases “ideas are a dime a dozen” and “execution is the main differentiator” gain a deeper resonance once you start building your product. As a business owner, you seek out more entrepreneurs primarily to feel validated and less alone - are other entrepreneurs going through the wringer as much as you are? These networking events (especially the ones in-person) are great because you can pick up insider tid-bits related to finding new customers, meeting potential hires, and pitching to investors. Inner and outer validation act as a necessary endorsement to keep going.

"The solution, although simple, could be a game-changer."

Once the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is created or the product is launched, entrepreneurs test it out on potential target customers and hope for honest feedback. The goal is to find product-market fit - an organic place for your product to flourish. At this point, many of us join groups on Facebook, Reddit, or Product Hunt, where our perceived early adopters reside and we try to:

  1. Cleverly post our ideas – hoping they don’t come across as spammy or get lost in the crowd (which is hard to achieve).

  2. Spread the word without sounding 'too sales-y'.

  3. Depend less on our personal networks for fear that they could soon get 'supporters fatigue' (wanting to leverage social capital for the dire or desperate moments)

It's all very tricky indeed! The solution, although simple, could be a game-changer. Digitizing the old-school concept of "show and tell". Think back to yourself as a kindergartener or first grader. Each week your classmates were encouraged to bring an object, talk about it, and get asked questions about it. The presenters had to be animated, confident, and have deep product knowledge to keep the audience engaged. Looking back, my classmates were the perfect product test group - they asked probing questions, and gave thoughtful feedback.

"event-based show-and-tell community - where entrepreneurs can demo their products while receiving feedback and exposure."

Ungana's Mission is to develop technology that brings people together. What better way than to build this event-based show-and-tell community - where entrepreneurs can demo their products while receiving feedback and exposure.

Our first FREE event will take place on the 8th of December at 7 pm.

Participants will have 5 minutes to screen share and run through a live product demo. This will be followed by a round of questions/ comments/feedback from the audience.

We aim to create an encouraging space for tech start-up entrepreneurs to share their ideas with the outside world – so Ungana will ensure that kindness and professionalism are respected.
